House Painting & Plastering in Trinidad

Sun, salt air and heavy rain are hard on paint. A good paint job starts with fixing cracks, damp and peeling plaster, not painting over them. We'll connect you with painters who prep properly, so the finish lasts.

New plaster? Let it cure

Fresh plaster needs time to dry and cure before it's painted, or the paint can bubble and discolour. Ask your contractor how long to leave it, and don't let a painter rush it.

Making paint last in this climate

  1. Fix the cause of damp first: leaks, gutters or rising damp. Paint won't stop it.

  2. Scrape, wash and prime. Most peeling comes from paint put over chalky or dirty walls.

  3. Use exterior-grade paint outside. Interior paint fades and fails fast in the sun.

  4. Paint in the dry season if you can. Rain on fresh exterior paint ruins it.

    Questions

    Painting & Plastering: common questions

How much does it cost to paint a house in Trinidad?

It depends on the size, the condition of the walls and the paint you choose. Prep work like crack repair and priming adds to the price but makes the paint last much longer.

    Who buys the paint?

Either you or the painter. If you buy it, ask the painter how much to get and which products to use.

    Why is my paint peeling?

Usually damp in the wall, or paint applied over dust, chalky old paint or fresh plaster. The fix is to find the cause, scrape back and prime before repainting.
